Two Photos - the sublime and the ridiculous
In the aftermath of the big party I found these two photographs; I've been meaning to stick them on here for some time. So:
This was The Three Rivers Race in 1996. I was in a rescue dory at five in the morning at Thurne Mouth when the leaders of the Cruiser Class appeared drifting down the Thurne in the early light. When they reached the Bure the wind died and they just sat on their reflections in the water for about 15 minutes. It was magical. The birds were singing, the sky in the west was still a little dark, and I was absolutely knackered from having been up all night in a twelve foot fast rescue boat!

On the other hand, this is me in the Landcruiser mucking about in the mud at Bircham Newton on June 10th - it was the East Anglian Off-Road Show at the Construction Industry Training Board's site where they teach people to work diggers and excavators - 50 acres of mud and sand!
