Themelthorpe Floods
On Monday morning I went down to the bottom of the garden to feed the hens at 7.00 o'clock as usual. As I reached the chicken run I could hear the sound of rushing water. Across the ditch at the bottom of our garden is a log bridge for the chickens (and me) to cross to the field beyond. Where the chickens normally walk up to the field from the little bridge (and where they've worn a bit of a track) there was a waterfall! We probably had two inches of rain that night, and the water was pouring off the field, down the chicken path and into the ditch. Not comparable with the Sheffield disaster, I know, but quite enough for me. The mini-torrent continued for over an hour.
Fingers crossed it clears up for the garden party on Saturday . . . . .
