Let's rename this "The Hen Blog"

Some pictures of our new girls; these two are Toffee on the left and Fudge on the right. They're 1 year old Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex, already in lay (although temporarily put off by the move!)

This is Edith:

And this is Fanny:
They are both 16 week old "Hisex" pullets (a modern hybrid - don't ask) and should come into lay in the next four weeks. Fanny has a swollen eye as you may just be able to see; she got pecked hard during the establishment of the pecking order with the "old girls".

Linda named Fudge and Toffee because of their colouring. I named Fanny and Edith after the characters in "Allo Allo". Well, it still makes me laugh!

Linda took her Dad to Thetford last week, to show him the tiny house in the middle of the old town where his Mother was born. She died when he was 3. Until Linda's sister found out about the Norfolk connection just before Christmas 2006 Les had no idea where his Mother came from. He was very moved by seeing the house - so was Linda, seeing her Dad there.

And now it's 4 eggs in one morning!

So the Themelthorpe Egg Production Facility will be gearing up to full output after Easter. Stand by for regular deliveries. It's the four girls nearest the camera who are doing their bit (so to speak). Reading from left to right, take a bow Violet, Lilac, Pansy and Lily.

As for Rose and Poppy, behind them, I've only one word to say - Paxo!
