Sussex mostly by the sea.
At the beginning of September we dragged the caravan down to Battle in East Sussex. The weather was good - all sun, no rain for ten whole days - the site was great and we had loads of good days out. This shows the 'van in the old stable yard of the big house which originally stood on the site. We had the whole area to ourselves most of the time.
This is the beach at Pett, just in front of the Pett levels a few miles east of Hastings. We went there most days to walk the dog and were the only people there. The cliffs in the background are at Fairlight. The old sea defences were brilliant - I feel a painting coming on.
Linda on the beach at Pett. She didn't get her feet wet, but I went paddling and found myself a foot deep in quicksand. The dog also got stuck - he was in up to his belly and smelt horrible afterwards.
Pevensey Castle. We hadn't been here for about twenty years - still as romantic as ever. At least English Heritage doesn't bugger things about like the NT sometimes does.
Great Dixter. The only garden I've ever visited which I've really enjoyed. Linda was in her element. The planting was sensational. This is the porch, and yes, it does lean a different way from the rest of the house.

Some flower type things at Great Dixter. I think L said they were African Marigolds.

A bit of real Christopher Lloyd planting. The reds together were just dazzling. L on the left pointing to make sure I snap the right flowery things.

And I had to put this in. It's on the beach at Pett again. And I have to ask myself is that a gun in my pocket or . . . .
Actually it's my wallet. But I could have been a principal dancer by the look of it.
