Old USA Haunts

Old USA Haunts

Mark Hayes emailed from the states this morning to say:

"Just passing Morro Bay and headed Monterey via Big Sur. Metings in SF
tomorrow. This week was LA and Santa Barbara. Gorgeous weather along the
shore. Mid 70's
Dance on Elvis"

To which I replied:

Hi Mark
I have such fond recollections of the campgrounds and statepark/national forest campsites round there. There was one place (Smith Forest capmground?? Something like that)- a tiny primitive site right on the shore where we saw hundreds of californian poppies in their natural habitat. I can see it now.
Elvis needs new battery for his legs but otherwise fine.

Naomi added:
Wish I was there. Loved Morro Bay - had our first sight of blue herons there.

Signs of spring

A great day in the garden finishing up with a glass of wine on the barn terrace. Bliss! Blogger seems a bit wierd at the moment. My comment about frog spawn has disappeared and John's news keeps appearing and disappearing

RIP Themelthorpe hens

Unfortunately a fox has killed our three lovely hens! We went to feed them this morning and found just a pathetic scattering of feathers. Just when they were laying really well again, too. Nothing to be done, and when the current bird flu nonsense has died down we'll restock. Meanwhile, a sad goodbye to Daisy, Lily and Rose.
